The city has finally broken ground on the Bike-Walk only path around the Loins Club golf course. The path is the fist of its kind in El Dorado and is being mostly funded by a grant totaling $150,000 from the State Highway Department. City council member Billy Bland stopped by the shop a few days ago to let us know that the Bike-Walk path was under way, so we loaded up and headed to the sight to see how thing where shaping up. As you can see in the picture above it doesn’t look like much more than a gravel road right now but it’s a great start toward a fully paved bike path!

The full Trail will end up being about 2.4 miles, but as of right now it looks a little more like this (click the image see full trail map) the full trail map is not exactly right. We think they have updated it since the last time we saw it. (i’ll update the post with the right map later).
Construction so far.
Since part of the path is sitting on an old Train Railway it’s very flat but we expect to see more hills as they finish up the northern part of the trail. Speaking of old Train Railways there’s a rumor that the city may get permission in the near future to continue following the Railway south even further into town ending near Main Street at the old Bird Marine site. The city is also in the planning stages of expanding the trail across the highway to the Union County Complex. There are also talks of a Montan Bike trail coming soon.
